Welcome

At Kingo Lutheran Church, we believe that God loves and forgives us unconditionally. This gift of grace inspires us to share God's love with others.

We strive to welcome and support all individuals regardless of race, sex, socioeconomic class, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, physical and mental ability, and political affiliation. Our faith in the

Holy Spirit guides us in our acceptance and mutual respect of all people. We recognize that some people continue to encounter less than full acceptance in Christian churches. However, no matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, you are welcomed by the Kingo community.

Kingo is a member of ReconcilingWorks: Lutherans for Full Participation.

Our Story

Kingo's story is a tapestry of stories woven together over the last one hundred years. Our story includes:

  • the stories of Danish immigrants to Milwaukee
  • the stories of working class and middle class people making homes and building families in Riverwest, Shorewood and other parts of metro Milwaukee
  • the stories of Christians who see themselves as part of the Lutheran tradition
  • the stories of the first followers of Jesus, gathered by the Holy Spirit into the group we call 'church'.

All of these stories live, breathe and find their meaning in the story of Jesus, who came to enact God's story of creative, forgiving love. It's the story that began with God creating the world, that continues now, and that God promises to write forever. As church, we come together to share and celebrate our stories within this story of Jesus, God-With-Us, so that God's story can shape and transform our own story.

mission

Kingo Lutheran Church is a community centered in the Good News of Jesus Christ

and led by the Spirit to walk joyfully with our diverse world

in living out God's life-giving inclusive love.

By the grace of God, we live out this mission statement through the following principles:

We actively listen for and trust in Jesus' Spirit to guide our lives and ministry.

We foster a growing, God-inspired inclusive faith community

that works to welcome, understand, celebrate, and advocate for one another.

We equip disciples of all ages through Word and Sacrament ministry, prayer, study,

community life, service, and faith conversations to live lives of worship.

We follow daily the servant example of Christ in our communities,

by walking with the poor in body or spirit and by caring for creation.

We engage and partner with our neighborhood, the Milwaukee metro area, the global community,

and the wider Church in living out God's love in Jesus.
